CLARIFY the meaning of JI'HAD

what is the meaning of ji'had??Is it holywar???NO NO NO.....please carefully read this,some facts about the arabic word ji'had in english!!!

In Arabic, the word jihad translates as a noun meaning "struggle". Jihad appears 41 times in the Quran and frequently in the idiomatic expression "striving in the way of God (al-jihad fi sabilAllah)". A person engaged in jihad is called a mujahid; the plural is mujahideen. Jihad is an important religious duty for Muslims.

Jihad means to struggle to submit your will to Allah, it is a war of struggle you fight within yourself to defeat the forces of evil within yourself. It has nothing to do with terrorism, militants,murderers or whatsoever... are the ones who are falling at jihad but they are not following the Qur'an's instructions.

In Arabic, the word jihad means striving and expending one’s energy. 

The Prophet [pbuh] regarded kindness to parents as better than Jihad in the way of Allah. Ibn Mas‘ud said, ‘I asked the Prophet which deed is most liked by Allah? He said, ‘Offering prayer in the due time.’ I asked, ‘What is next? He said, ‘Kindness to parents. Then I asked, ‘What is next? He said, ‘Jihad in the way of Allah.’ [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] This is their status and right in Islam.

In the linguistic sense, the Arabic word "jihad" means struggling or striving and applies to any effort exerted by anyone. In this sense a student struggles and strives to get an education and pass course work; an employee strives to fulfill his/her job and maintain good relations with his/her employer; a politician strives to maintain or increase his popularity with his constituents and so on. The term strive or struggle may be used for/by Muslims as well non-Muslims

In the West or non arabic people, "jihad" is generally translated as "holy war", a usage the media has popularized. According to Islamic teachings, it is unholy to instigate or start war; however, some wars are inevitable and justifiable.

If we translate the words "holy war" back into Arabic we find "harbun muqaddasatun", or for "the holy war", "al-harbu al-muqaddasatun".

Nowadays, anyone is adding the word as prefix or suffix to Jihad and they are playing with the sentiments of the word jihad
